to be informed in advance of visa regulations, both from
their home countries and from the countries in which
ELG offers programs.

Can
I apply for an internship if I don´t speak the
local language yet? |
 |
Our
programs also make it possible for applicants
with no knowledge of the host country’s
language to do an internship abroad! For absolute
beginners we offer intensive language courses
in the host country before starting your internship
which usually last 7 or 8 weeks but your free
to take a longer course.
|
|
When
do I have to apply? |
 |
Your internship application
form should reach us about three to four months ahead
of the date of your arrival in the host country. All
registrations for language courses should take place
no later than 2 weeks prior to starting the course.
|
|
How
long do internships last? |
 |
A minimum length of six to eight weeks is required
for an internship in order to become truly involved
in the everyday working life. However, internships
should not last longer than six months, due to visa
regulations.
|
|
Are
the internships paid? |
 |
The vast majority of our
internships are unpaid due to visa regulations.
You should be prepared to do an unpaid internship
as we are unable to guarantee a paid internship.
However you should try to cover at least a portion
of your expenses by applying for a stipend or scholarship.
Please contact the study abroad office at your university
or institute.
|
|
What
if ELG is unable to find an internship? |
 |
We have a ~95%
success rate. However if for any reason we
are unable
to find
you an adequate internship which
matches your needs, you will get
all your deposit back minus an administration
fee of € 40,00.
|
|
Are
the internhip placement possibilities the same
in each country? |
 |
Due to diverse economical structures in our cooperating
countries, the internship possibilities we can offer
also vary depending on the situation of individual
countries.
We would be pleased to inform you of which country
or city offers the best possibilities to successfully
complete your internship.
|
|
Will
I be the only intern in the given company or institution? |
 |
In most cases you will be the only intern in a firm,
although this also depends on the size of the company
or institution and the planned projects you might work
on.
|
|
How
long does it take to recieve confirmation of
my internship placement? |
 |
Usually you will get the internship confirmation within
six to seven weeks after your application materials
have been sent to our ELG branch abroad. If there are
uncommon specifications regarding your internship,
the time until you get the confirmation might be slightly
extended.
|
|
Do
I get a certificate for the language course and
internship after their completition? |
 |
After you complete you language course, you will receive
a certificate either from us or from the language school.
A certificate (reference) will also be issued by your
employer toward the end of your internship. However,
we recommend
that you start to organize receiving you certificate
ahead of time, (around two weeks before the last day
of your internship) since the employer usually might
take a bit for it.
|
|
Which
kind of visa is required for completing an internship
or language course? |
 |
If you wish to take part only in a language course,
there is in general no need to apply for a special
visa since in most cases
you can attend a course with a Tourist Visa. In the
case of an internship, we will inform
you about current visa requirements.
|
|
Which
kind(s) of insurance should I have?
|
 |
It is necessary to have overseas health insurance,
which must cover the entire period of your stay abroad.
When doing an internship with high level risk (for
example chemical laboratory work or structural engineering)
we highly recommend taking out a travel and accident
insurance in addition.
|
|
Is
there an ELG service in the host country? |
 |
In each country and city we cooperate with there is
an ELG office, partner institution, or contact person
who takes care of you during the length of your stay.
Our colleagues organize the internships, coordinate
accommodations, cultural programs or language courses
and are the link
between
you and your employer.
