| |
Maceió, the capital
of the state of Alagoas in the northeastern Brazil,
is a safe, relaxed and modern city with some the
most beautiful and alluring beaches in South America.
The famous beach, Praia da Pajucara, is
not only a great place to lay out and enjoy the sun
but you
can also take a ride on one of the jangadas (small
sailboats) to the piscinas natuarais (natural swimming
pools which are formed when the coral reefs and sandbanks
emerge at low tide.)
Maceió has the sea and lagoons that are the
envy of many tourist-driven cities all over the world.
The tropical climate has an average temperature of
25° C and only two seasons: summer and rainy
summer.
Despite the fact that it’s a beach city, Maceió also
has a wide range of cultural and environmental
places of interest and also offers a wide range
of annual
events like the famous street carnival in December
and the traditional carnival in February.

The school is located
in the Ponta Verde district, a modern residential
area, just 4 blocks away from the beach, close to
bars, restaurants, gyms and more
Our school offers group and private general language
instruction, from absolute beginner to advanced levels.
Portuguese language exam preparatory courses are
also available.
Courses focus on conversation, though there may be some writing requirements
to be completed at home. Approximately 95% of the class is conducted in Portuguese.
Our teachers use modern teaching materials and
equipment. Computers, CDs and video are among the
aids used in everyday courses as well as sessions
devoted to culture, regional studies, literature
and business. Use of the multimedia library and
the computer facilities is a good way of adding
to and reinforcing the skills acquired from class
work.

Your
accommodation
|
Accommodation in
a Brazilian host family (FAM) in single
rooms (SR)
with half board (HB) is included
in the course fees. We ensure that each family
offers a quality living
situation and respects each student’s wishes.
The host families themselves are experienced and
enthusiastic participants in the student´s
experience. Living with a host family gives you the
most intense immersion into the life, culture and
language of Brazil; It’s truly an irreplaceable
experience.
All families are an average of 10 to
20 minutes away from the school. The school can be
easily reached by public transport.

Activities
|
We believe that a language
program must be complemented
with a wide range of
social and cultural activities
not only to allow students
to use and practice the
portuguese language but
also to maximize student's
exposure to Brazilian
and Portuguese culture.
Our school has an
active and exciting
social program.You
will have visits to
theatres, concerts,
restaurants,
beaches as well as
other events such as
national festivals,
sporting events and
dance clubs. There
is an activity
arranged at least
twice a week.
Among the most popular
activities in Maceió are
visits to the historic
colonial cities of
Marechal Deodoro and
Penedo, Murici (Atlantic
forest) or the sea
cow reserve of Barra
de Santo Antonio.
